For our first Employee Feature, we’re featuring Russalie Datu (Russ), Ad Operations Social Team Lead (Korea & Thailand). Check out her story:
I’ve been in this company for 5 years, starting as an Intern, moving up to Campaign Manager, then changed to Ad Operations, moved up to Senior Ad Operations Manager and today I am the Ad Operations Social Team Lead for Korea and Thailand. Oh, and I have been relocated from Philippines to Thailand. My job requires me to collaborate with different departments. My day starts with a cup of coffee at home, I’ll check my emails, write my to-do-list, and then leave for work. Once I arrive in the office, I put my headset on, play music from Artic Monkeys or Honne, check my campaigns, go over my to-do-list, and send emails.
Working in Ad Operations
I always make sure to connect with my team to be updated on what’s happening, both account level and personal. We also attend internal meetings with client servicing and product team. We talk about upcoming campaigns, trainings, strategy, product, next steps, and SOP.
It’s important to align, and to create synergy. Each department has their own speciality they bring to the table. For example, the Ad Operations team is closer to the product, therefore we update the Client Servicing team on new features we can test, and how we can help clients achieve their objective in terms of campaign structure, creatives and best practices, and we occasionally attend client meetings. We go beyond campaign set ups, monitoring and optimization, it’s not enough we deliver campaigns and hit KPIs. Another example would be with two of our key clients: we encourage them to try new features and advise on campaign structure which helped improve performance by 20-50%. We want to be the best Ad Ops team! To achieve that, we need to be driven, collaborate and go beyond our normal responsibilities.

In my free time, I look for fun activities around Bangkok, for example riding a bike, visiting a new café, bowling or watching movies, but normally I would stay home, open the TV and sit on the couch with a bag of chips. I love to travel, I make it a point to travel to a new city every quarter.
